Two longtime Rehoboth Beach restaurants have closed their doors within days of each other.
Just in Thyme and Arena’s Deli & Bar, both located along Route 1 (Coastal Highway), announced on social media and websites that they were permanently closing. The two restaurants have each been in business for more than 20 years.
Just in Thyme at Robinson Drive and Route 1 on the “Forgotten Mile” between Rehoboth and Dewey beaches across from Spring Lake has been operating since 1998. The two-story building, which also has two apartments, has been a restaurant of one kind or another since at least the 1970s.

Just in Thyme, an American restaurant known for its “budget-friendly gourmet dining” with dishes like rack of lamb, jambalaya and stuffed lobster, operated year-round and closed only on Christmas.
It was frequently by locals, especially during the beach off-season, who enjoyed grabbing seats at the large u-shaped bar, near the fireplace or in the candlelit dining room, and listening to live music. Its last dinner service was Saturday, Sept. 28, according to its Facebook page.
The site has been listed for sale on a real estate website for $2.35 million.
Arena’s on Route 1 near Big Fish Grill announced on its website that it was permanently closing that location after more than 20 years. No reason was given.
The chain, operating since 1990, is known for casual, family-friendly dining and catering. It still has a downtown Rehoboth restaurant, its flagship site, as well as locations in Georgetown, Lewes and Milford.
