An experienced actor once called his wife a “saint”, recalling their journey together. Unlike him, she doesn’t work in the entertainment industry. Take a closer look at the star’s strong relationship with his devoted wife.
Don Johnson, better known as James “Sonny” Crockett in the 1980s TV series Miami Police, turns 75. The Hollywood star is married to Kelly Fleger, who is famous for her beauty and is noticeably taller in the photos.
Decades after her prominent role in Miami Police, Johnson continues to reflect on the enormous fame that came with her. In an interview given in September 2024, he recalled: “For a long time, I couldn’t even go out… We had round-the-clock security.”
While the actor once worried about being like others, Johnson eventually learned to deal with his notoriety, adding, “This year marks the 40th anniversary of ‘Miami Police,’ and, hey, I’m still here.”
In addition to the difficulties associated with fame, Johnson faced personal difficulties early in his career. He suffered from alcohol addiction and, at the age of 44, reportedly sought treatment from a doctor in Los Angeles, although he was not admitted to a treatment center.
His publicist Elliot Mintz revealed that he had not consumed alcohol for 10 years before he relapsed. Fortunately, the movie star eventually got the help he needed and regained control of his life.
Having overcome these difficulties, Johnson now treats life with humor and vitality. At the age of 74, he revealed his secret to preserving his timeless appearance. “Get married right!” he advised, adding, “A bad marriage will make you old.” He also noted that physical exercise helps him keep young, joking: “How do you think I got six children? Anyway, I know about it!”
Johnson’s sense of humor and resilience are reflected in his personal life. He is currently in his third marriage. His first two marriages were to actress Melanie Griffith — the first in 1976 and the second from 1989 to 1996. They have a daughter together, and the actor also welcomed the birth of a son from his ex-wife, actress Patti D’Arbanville.
