So, my proposal was supposed to be one of our happiest moments. I planned it at our favorite beach, where we had our first date. I had flowers, a romantic picnic, and a hidden photographer ready to capture it all.
When the day came, my sister insisted on coming along to take some “candid” photos before the proposal. I wasn’t sure about that because she’d just gone through a breakup after she thought her boyfriend would finally propose. I thought it might be awkward, but then I agreed, thinking we could make the moment more special. Big mistake.
At the beach, my sister starts acting weird, making snarky comments, and trying to direct everything. My girlfriend senses something’s off, and it’s ruining the mood. Then, out of nowhere, my sister GRABS the ring box from my pocket, opens it, and yells, “Surprise! He’s going to propose!”
My girlfriend is shocked and confused, and I’m standing there, utterly stunned. My sister starts laughing, thinking it’s all a joke, but it’s clear she’s just trying to sabotage the moment. My girlfriend looks at me, tears in her eyes, and I can see the disappointment.
I quickly try to salvage the situation, taking the ring back and getting down on one knee, but the magic is gone. My girlfriend, bless her heart, still says yes, but the moment is tainted. My sister’s laughter turns to an awkward silence when she realizes the gravity of what she’s done.
Afterwards, my girlfriend and I have a long talk, and she forgives me for my sister’s behavior, but we both know that the proposal wasn’t what it could have been. I’m furious with my sister, and it’s clear she’s not going to apologize on her own.
